A recurring plot in movies involves gathering a special group of people to carry out an heroic mission, the seventies, “The Magnificant Seven” was such a movie. In this western, a village was being terrorized by a band of robbers. The movie is about seven men from different backgrounds, and each with a different personal story, who came together to become the liberators of this village. This is also the mission of every local church. Acts 16 tells the story of the church in the city of Philippi. God brought people from very different backgrounds together to become the church on mission to liberate the city by sharing the message of freedom through Jesus Christ.
