Meatloaf (the food, not the singer) - Oct 24
Author: | Filed in: Family, Kids

A few weeks ago, I lied.  I was at the church with a couple of kids and we were all really hungry.  So, I did what any self-respecting children’s pastor would do.  I told the kids I was cooking dinner and went to look for some cookies.  When I walked into the kitchen, there sitting on the counter, was a huge pan of meatloaf, homemade mashed potatoes, sweet corn and rolls.  No joke.  I must admit that what I did next was one of my greatest moments.  I filled up three plates, set them on a tray and walked back in that room with my head held high declaring dinner was served.  I may not have mentioned that dinner was actually served 30 minutes before I found it, but I didn’t feel this was necessary.  Of course, they loved it.  And I looked good.  Really good.

Parents, did you know that you are 10 times better at my job than I’ll ever be.  Why?  Well, because God created you to be the most influential person in your child’s life.  Mom and Dad, you have the awesome opportunity and responsibility to help your children grow in their faith.  Don’t know where to begin?  Relax.  It’s our heart at Calvary to help families grow together on their spiritual journey. If you haven’t checked out the Family Times Virtue Pack stop by the book table this Sunday and take a look.  It’s a tray of meatloaf and it’s waiting for you.  The Family Times Virtue Pack is a resource created to make you a better parent and a great spiritual leader for your child.  Filled with this month’s bible bedtime stories, discussions for meal times, notes you can send in a lunch box and even a CD for driving times in the car – this is gonna make you look good.  Really good.
