CORE VALUES
Relationship
The one true God exists from all eternity in the perfect community of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. At the heart of the very nature of the God of all creation is relationship. God created men and women in His own image to find meaning and joy in deep and unbroken relationships. The fall into sin brought alienation. Jesus has come to restore relationship with God and with one another. Calvary Church seeks to demonstrate to the world the power of authentic love in Jesus to unite people of all backgrounds, ethnic origins, personalities, and ages into a community of genuine love.
Truth
Meaning comes from Truth. Human beings can discover “truths” on their own, but Truth with a capital “T” must be revealed from outside. Meaning is something all people long for and search for in order to prevent despair and to find purpose and reason to live. God has revealed His Truth in Jesus Christ, and in His inspired, written Word. Calvary Church seeks to speak and embody the Truth of God centered in Jesus.
Worship
The greatest of all the commands is to “love God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind” Luke 10: 27. This is the essence of worship. Worship is therefore more than certain spiritual or holy acts we do. It is above all a 24/7 lifestyle in which all we are is offered up to God as an expression of love to Him. Worship includes honoring God in our relationships, our career, and in our thinking, attitudes and actions. Worship also includes honoring God with our creativity, including all talents and art forms, as well as in music and song in worship gatherings. Worship is the creativity and beauty of the human heart expressing love to God.
Mission
Mission is living with intentionality for Jesus. Mission is purposeful passion to influence others for Jesus. Jesus gave the church its mission in Matthew 28: 18-20, “As you go about living, make disciples “baptizing them as testimony of their faith” and teaching them so they become mature in their faith” (Paraphrased). Calvary Church is highly committed to building relationships of influence for Jesus with neighbors, people at work or school, and in the community so that they will come to know Him; and to creating an environment for spiritual growth in which they will mature, discover their unique gifts for ministry, and become “missional” disciples with a lifestyle of sharing Jesus with others. Calvary Church is also committed spreading of the message of Jesus on the global scale by supporting several missionaries in many nations.
